South Florida offers some of the best Peacock bass fishing in the world. Specifically Targeting the Butterfly Peacock bass. Peacock Bass Fishing is fun for beginners and also for Experts. These Butterfly Peacock Bass very hard fighting fish and very fun to catch on light tackle. I personally like to use a size 1000 Shimano reel when targeting these fish.
Not only Does Florida offer butterfly peacock bass just an hour south you can find massive pre-historic tarpon. Every year Miami has a massive shrimp run and the tarpon migrate to Miami for this shrimp run from February to may. its amazing how 150lb fish will eat a 4″ shrimp. Tarpon are acrobatic and fun to fight on medium spinning gear. for tarpon specifically, I like to use the Shimano Saragossa 10k size reel. this Saragossa is perfect for tarpon fishing.
